In the Vortexes of Time

Images on German history and society in the 20th century from the Gerhard Schneider collection

In the exhibition “In the Vortexes of Time” works of art from Gerhard Schneider's collection reflect the diverse challenges, changes and turning points that Germany has experienced over the course of the last century: from the First World War to the turmoil of the revolutionary period, through the Weimar Republic and the Nazi era up to the division and reunification of Germany. From the very beginning, the Gerhard Schneider Collection sought initial discovery and brings together achievements by unappreciated artists that are often overlooked to this day. This disregard goes back to distortions for which the Nazi dictatorship is specifically responsible.
